Lengthy Delays On Kewin Mill Road As Storm Related Repairs Continue

Sonora, CA — Those who access Kewin Mill Road will want to know of lengthy delays currently going on as dismantling of the temporary bridge is underway.

Tuolumne County roads officials report that the work may take until 7 p.m. tonight to complete. In the meantime, motorists through the area should anticipate traffic delays and waits of up to 30 or 40 minutes at a time. They suggest avoiding the area if at all possible, adding that the public’s patience is appreciated while crews work to provide safe access across the damaged area and to kindly be patient and considerate of the workers.

As we reported March 3, Kewin Mill Road received extensive damage north of Belleview Elementary School from storms that happened over that weekend that required road crews to install the temporary bridge. The Tuolumne County Supervisors unanimously voted to fast-track the repair process and to use around $1-million from SB 1 gas tax revenue to fund the fixes, which include replacing a culvert and repaving the roadway.
