Hit and Run In Sonora

Sonora, CA — The CHP reports a Mi-Wuk Village man led officers on a chase and left a path of destruction in his wake in Tuolumne County. The first wreck happened yesterday around 6:30 in the evening on Tuolumne Road and Mono Way. The CHP says due to being drunk, 30 year old Beau Banks, driving a 1982 Chevy going westbound on Tuolumne Road, allowed the car to drift off the roadway. He then hit 59 year old Jeff Little of Sonora who was walking along the road. Banks then over corrected and struck the rear of a 2008 Dodge driven by 63 year old Donald Rice of Oakdale. The CHP says Banks took off driving eastbound on Mono Way when he was stopped by Rice. The two exchanged information and Banks drove off.

Banks then collided with two more cars in Sonora before hitting a traffic sign and a tree on Sawmill Flats Road east of Red Gulch Road. He was finally nabbed by police when they found him walking on Big Hill Road. Banks was arrested for felony DUI and multiple hit and run traffic collisions involving injury.

Little suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Sonora Regional Medical Center.
