The first weekend of April features the Grand Opening of Railtown, several fundraisers and more.
Railtown will host its Grand Opening festivities this weekend. On Saturday arrive at 7:00am and watch the crew prepare the train for the day in the historic roundhouse. To kick off the new season, excursion train rides will be offered behind “Movie Star Locomotive” Sierra No. 3. The first train leaves at 11am tickets go on sale at 10am. Calaveras, Mariposa and Tuolumne County residents may ride the train for free with proof of residence. Contact information is in the Railtown Opening Weekend event listing.
Relay For Life Yard Sale Fundraiser will be held at the Junction Shopping Center Saturday from 8:00am to 3pm. The multi-team yard sale proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. Tuolumne County’s Relay For Life Event is only a month away starting May 4 at 9:00am.
The “Memories Matter 5K Run or Walk” will support Alzheimer’s Disease awareness. Register at 8:30am, the run begins at 9:00am at the Westside Property in Tuolumne. Details are available in the event listing.
Also on Saturday the Tuolumne County Master Gardeners Open Garden Day begins at 10:00am. The featured speakers and directions are in the event listing here. There is no cost to attend Open Garden Day or to tour the garden.
Thursday, Friday and this Saturday April 6th, the Performing Arts Theater at Summerville High School is performing “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.”. Shows are put on by 7th and 8th grade students at 7:00pm and on Saturday both 2:00pm and 7:00pm. The event listing says, “This delightful musical features gorgeous sets and costumes along with the talented performers and will be enjoyed by all ages.” For ticket information view the event listing.
Tonight, Friday April 5th, is the Springtime Memories Dinner Dance at the Sonora Opera Hall. Dinner and dancing featuring Chains Required begins at 5:00pm to benefit Gold Rush Charter Country School. For menu details view the event listing.
