Outdoor Recreation Bills Pass Committee

Sacramento, CA — A pair of bills introduced by Senator Tom Berryhill passed through the Senate Natural Resources Committee.

Senator Tom Berryhill’s legislation that would create a year round fishing license has passed through the Senate Natural Resources Committee.

SB 583 would create the option of purchasing a fishing license that is good for 12 months, regardless of when it is purchased. He has conceded that it will likely cost a little bit more than the closest current option of buying a license good for one calendar year, regardless if was purchased late in the year.

Berryhill says, “I think having more options will bring people out to enjoy the outdoors and that means more revenue for the surrounding areas.”

Another of Berryhill’s bills, SB392, also passed through committee which would eliminate the cap on the number of processed game birds that one can have in a household. He says it would put California law in line with other states like Oregon. The possession limits for field and travel would still apply.
