Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Relay For Life will take place this weekend at Sonora High School.
Event Chairperson Andee Houser says the purpose is to fight back against cancer. Houser was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“There are numerous teams and we are inviting the public to come out and participate” says Hamilton. “Everyone has friends and family that have been affected by cancer. This is a chance for the community to come together to raise money and help fight against it.”
The Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30am and then walkers will take to the track at 9am. Various events will take place throughout the twenty-four period. Food including Indian Tacos will be available. And a free concert will begin at 5:30pm with popular local group, Chains Required.
A Luminary Ceremony starts at 8:30pm to remember those that have passed away from cancer. The 24 hour relay will conclude Sunday morning at 9 AM.
Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
