Clean Air Award For Casino

Tuolumne, CA – Black Oak Casino Resort has received the California Clean Air Award. The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians were presented the award in recognition of their new smoke-free Hotel.

In 2006 the Surgeon General reported that there is no level of safe exposure to second-hand smoke. Exposure to second hand smoke is considered a major health issue, which is why California adopted an extensive smoke free work place law.

Narinder Dhaliwhal, project director for the California Clean Air Project, said; “The Tuolumne Band stands out as a business and community leader because they offer guests a completely smoke-free resort hotel. As a sovereign Nation, the Tuolumne Band has made a voluntary decision towards providing a healthier indoor hospitality and entertainment environment for all.” Dhaliwhal continued, “They are also to be commended for their smoke-free policy on the lower family floor, arcade and bowling center and for their very large non-smoking gaming floor. These are very comprehensive policies to ensure a healthier environment for all of their guests and their employees.”

The Casino encompasses 164,770 square feet including eight restaurants and bars, a bowling center, and arcade. The Hotel has 148 rooms and a conference center.
