Proposed Assisted Living Complex

Sonora, CA — Plans for an assisted living complex in an area off Tuolumne Road will go before the Tuolumne County Planning Commission next week.

The proposal submitted by Edward and Carla Brown calls for the construction of two assisted living facilities, which would each house 80 units. The first would be 56,000 sq. ft. and the other 43,000 sq. ft. In addition, there would be a 19,000 sq. ft. building for medical office space. There would also be 21 fourplexes, and three duplexes. It would be referred to as the “Eagle’s Nest Independent Living Facility,” and be spread over 34 acres on Eagle Ridge Drive West. The site is 460 ft. southwest of the intersection of Tuolumne Road and Eagle Ridge Drive West.

On June 5th the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the project and vote on a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on whether it should be approved.

At the same meeting, the Board will take up a request to rezone a 163 acre parcel of property located in the 18000 block of Old Wards Ferry Road. The applicant is hoping that its seven existing parcels will be subdivided into 14. The applicants are Henry Sanguinetti Jr. Land Company, David and Susan Sanguinetti, William and Sharon Gehri, and Benton and Karen Lou Hembree.

The Planning Commission meeting on June 5th will begin at 6pm in the Board of Supervisors meeting room.
