The Mother Lode Fairgrounds will be busy this Saturday with a free event called “Summer Sizzle”.
Vicki Smith, Secretary and Membership Chairperson for ‘Friends of the Mother Lode Fairgrounds’ was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Friends of the Mother Lode Fairgrounds is a non-profit group that helps support and promote fair projects, programs and needs. Anyone can be a member of Friends of the Fairgrounds for just twenty dollars.
The Summer Sizzle is a free one day event that involves a classic car show, a peddler’s faire and children’s activities.
The event will kick-off with a breakfast served by Tuolumne County 4-H members from 9 through 11 AM. The Kiwanis Club will serve food and drink from 1 through 4 PM.
The event is designed as a fundraiser, with all of the proceeds going towards the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Although the entrance for the general public is free, money is raised from car entry fees and booth space at the peddler’s faire. Car entries are still being accepted. Call (209) 533-3548.
The 2013 Mother Lode Fair itself will take place from July 11th – July 14th.
More information on all of the events taking place at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds can be found by calling the fair office at (209) 532-7428.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
