Sonora, CA — The CHP has now released the name of the man killed in a crash recently on Highway 49 near Fraguero Road.
The CHP reports that 46-year-old Thomas Renkel of Sonora was driving a 1983 Porsche and lost control of the car due to his high rate of speed. The vehicle spun around and slammed into a tree. The car then overturned. Renkel was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident happened on June 5th, and it took a while for CHP officials to release the name because they faced challenges reaching family members that live outside the region.
