Three Members Of Cab Company Arrested

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department had a busy night arresting members of a local taxi company.

The P.D. reports that a worker at Golden State Cab, 46-year-old Ronald Paul of Sonora, made threats to harm the owner of a competing cab company while they were both in a restaurant last night. The owner of the other cab company stated that he feared for his safety. The Police Department was notified, and Paul was arrested a short time after and taken to Tuolumne County Jail.

An hour later the owner of Golden State Cab, identified as 32-year-old Michael Schaff of Sonora, went to the restaurant and allegedly accused the management of having Paul arrested. Schaff then left in one of his cabs, after causing a disturbance with customers.

The restaurant notified the Police Department about the new incident, and 15 minutes later an officer stopped a Golden State Cab, wondering if Schaff was driving. Instead, it was operated by 50-year-old Lawrence Rodriguez of Sonora. The officer found that Rodriquez was intoxicated, so he was taken to Tuolumne County Jail.

At 1:35am this morning, Schaff arrived at the Police Department to pick up a release form for the cab that Rodriguez had been driving. Schaff was then arrested for causing the earlier disturbance at the restaurant, and was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on a charge of disturbing the peace.
