Update: HWY 49 Fatal/Hit And Run

San Andreas, CA — The CHP is asking for the public’s help to identify a hit-and-run suspect in the fatal wreck.

Investigators are asking you to look at the photo posted in this article. The truck is described as a silver or tan Chevrolet or GMC pickup. It is missing the center piece of the right front hubcap. The truck was last picked up on a business’s surveillance camera heading northbound on Angels Road towards Highway 49 and San Andreas. The CHP asks; if you recognize the truck or know who owns it please call them at 209-754-3541.

The CHP says 57 year-old Charles Bray of Cashmere, Washington was traveling with his sister and nephew southbound on Highway 49 on their way to Yosemite National Park. All were driving motorcycles, Bray’s was a 1995 Harley Davidson.

Around 11:30am the pickup truck going northbound turned left in front of Bray at the intersection of Angels Road and Highway 49. The CHP says Bray swerved to the left, went down, and slid head on into a 2002 Mercury Marquis driven by 51 year old Michael Rogers of Columbia. Bray was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP is investigating whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
