Sonora, CA — The Sheriff’s Office has released new information about a lightning strike in the Baker Campground.
The woman who died yesterday afternoon has been identified as 66-year-old Christine Ann Adrian of Sonora. Officials were dispatched to the Baker Campground at 3:52pm when someone called in to report that a woman had been “struck by lightning.”
Upon further investigation, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office found that a lightning strike hit some tree branches above her campsite, but it did not directly strike her. She had no obvious wounds that would be associated with being hit by lightning.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. To view a map of the Baker Campground, click here.
