A 22-year-old from Calaveras County was killed this morning in a crash on South Camanche Parkaway.
The CHP reports that Matthew W. Maddox was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson at an unknown speed and he lost control of the bike. 22-year-old Samuel C. Knox of Burson was riding behind Maddox on a 1996 Harley Davidson. The CHP says that after Maddox fell, Knox’s bike collided with him.
Maddox was pronounced dead at the scene, and Knox was taken to Mark Twain Medical Center to treat “major injuries.” The CHP reports that Knox was found to be riding while intoxicated. The CHP states that it is unknown at this time if Maddox was also impaired. Maddox was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The crash happened at 1:19am.
