Jamestown, CA — Details are now available about a crash on Highway 49 that happened at 8:55am this morning. Lucas Shelton, 18 of Jamestown, was driving a 1992 Buick 55 miles per hour on Highway 108/49. He lost control of the vehicle and drove off the right shoulder. According to the CHP, the vehicle went airborne and collided with the dirt hillside, then went into a barbed wire fence and overturned on its left side.
Shelton was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor injuries to his hand, he was wearing a seatbelt. His passenger, 79 year old Val Lauber, was not wearing a seatbelt and was air flighted to Doctors Medical with major injuries. Witnesses reportedly assisted him out of the vehicle. The driver, Shelton, was not arrested for the incident.
