Sears Corporation has completed its transition of Orchard Supply Hardware Stores into a separate publicly traded company.
Orchard, which started as a purchasing cooperative in San Jose in 1931, runs 87 hardware stores in California, including one in Sonora. The Associated Press reports it will start trading today on the Nasdaq market under the ticker symbol “OSH.”
Sears completed the Orchard transition on Friday. Sears Corporation recently announced it will close many of its Sears and K-Mart stores, but not any regional locations.
The public stock offering will help Orchard raise additional revenue.
