San Andreas, CA — Each year a local service club in Calaveras County recognizes educators that go above and beyond to teach local youth.
The Angels-Murphys Rotary annually picks one teacher from each of the districts in Calaveras, as well as one from the Calaveras County Office of Education. Recipients this year include Gordon Sadler from Bret Harte High School, Gigi Young of Copperopolis Elementary, Audrey Smith from West Point Elementary, Jared Hungerford of the Calaveras County Office of Education and Ed Martin from Avery Middle School.
On a related note, the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools announced last month the 16 recipients for Tuolumne County Excellence in Teaching Awards. They will be recognized at a dinner coming up on April 23. Click here to view the earlier story.
