Pinecrest, CA — Stanislaus National Forest Summit District Ranger Karen Caldwell has retired after 31 years of service with the Forest Service.
Her interim replacement, Kevin Larkin, is currently the acting Kaibab National Forest Administrative Officer in the Forest Service’s Southwestern Region. The Kaibab National Forest is North of Grand Canyon National Park in Nothern Arizona and South of Zion National Park in Southern Utah.
Larkin has been appointed to her position for a period of four months while the Forest Service searches for a person to fill the vacancy.
Susan Skalski, Stanislaus NF Supervisor, states, “Kevin has had great successes in partnership development and collaboration with other agencies, local governments, and organizations in the creation of a cross jurisdictional zoned fire organization. He will be a wonderful asset in working with the partners we have in place to best achieve national goals and manage the challenging recreation and natural resource issues that are very important to our local communities.”
Larkin will be designated the Acting District Ranger assignment on the Stanislaus National Forest Summit Ranger District beginning January 30, 2012.
The Summit Ranger District Office is located on Highway 108 and Pinecrest Road.
