Sonora, CA — Flu Season has yet to hit the Mother Lode. According to Tuolumne County Public Health Nurse, Kathy Amos, the flu season starts about the end of January and goes through February and into March.
Tuolumne County health officials are encouraging residents to get the flu vaccine, stay at home if they are sick, and seek medical care if their symptoms aren’t manageable.
Vaccines are available for everyone six months and older for free at the health department every Tuesday from 1:00 – 4:00pm. The health department will bill those eligible for MediCare
Amos is a registered nurse and noted the best way to prevent illness is to eat healthy, get enough sleep and wash your hands often.
