Olsen’s CEQA Reforms Pass Assembly

Sacramento, CA — A bill that is designed to make it easier to do minor public works projects has passed through the California Assembly.

AB 890 was introduced by Republican Kristen Olsen and Democrat Henry Perea. Olsen’s office says that the legislation was requested by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors. Every year the county passes a “Legislative Platform.”

AB 890 would exempt minor roadway projects from going through the full CEQA process. It covers improvements to existing roadways such as guardrails, traffic signal modifications, draining and shoulder widening.

Olsen, whose district covers Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties, says she is pleased the bill has garnered bi-partisan support. AB 890 now moves onto the State Senate. District 14 Senator Tom Berryhill is also a co-author.
