Sonora, CA — Michael Knowles is new District Attorney for Tuolumne County.
He was approved with a 3-1 vote of the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors this morning. Immediately after the vote, Knowles was invited by the Supervisors to say a few words at the microphone.
“I would like to express my gratitude,” said Knowles. “I know that with this action that you took today comes challenge and trust, and I want to assure you that I have a source of strength that will meet every challenge, and I assure you that your trust is not misplaced and will never be betrayed.”
Supervisor Liz Bass voted against and Randy Hanvelt abstained. They both praised Knowles, but disapproved of the process of not allowing outside candidates to apply. Knowles replaces Donald Segerstrom who was recently appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to a Tuolumne County Superior Court judicial seat.
