Linden, CA — Over 300 human bones were found near Linden over the weekend at a property once owned by the family of convicted serial killer Wesley Shermantine.
Authorities also found clothes, a purse and jewelry in a well that became a mass grave. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department believes there may be 10 or more victims. The well is located near an abandoned cattle ranch, and the remains were found 45 ft. deep in the well. The search will resume today if weather allows.
Shermantine and childhood friend Loren Herzog became known as the “Speed Freak Killers” for a methamphetamine-fueled killing spree.
Human remains were also found last week near San Andreas, at property also once owned by the Shermantine family.
Shermantine is on death row at San Quentin State Prison, and Herzog committed suicide last month while on parole.
