Olsen Calls For Transparency

Sacramento, CA — Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen has introduced legislation calling for increased transparency and accountability on behalf of the state legislature.

AB 1730 would require that all bills be available in print and online at least 72 hours before a vote, mandate that members of the legislature post their monthly office budget online, and require 24-hour online posting of campaign contributions over $100.

“The public deserves full information from their elected officials about how their taxes are being spent,” says Olsen, whose District 25 covers Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. “It is unconscionable that the Legislature would have ever sought to withhold such information.”

Olsen was one of only a few California legislators to voluntarily post her office budget last year.
