Bear Valley, CA — Earlier this week we reported that Caltrans opened Highway 108 to Kennedy Meadows, and now there is news regarding Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass.
The highway is open to the east end of Lake Alpine. Getting the road open to this point allows access to the lodge, boat launch, beaches and campgrounds, according to Caltrans. It is open ahead of trout season that begins this weekend.
The goal is to have the seasonal passes completely open by Memorial Day weekend, but spokesperson Warren Alford notes that late season storms, unexpected road damage, and other factors can sometimes hinder the plan.
