A Very Wet Week Ahead

Just as Daylight Saving Time goes into effect on Sunday, there may not be much sunlight to take advantage of over the next week.

A series of storm systems will affect northern California.

An initial system, beginning Sunday, will only bring light precipitation to the area. Snow levels will be around 4500 feet.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Monday evening through late Tuesday night. 

Snow levels will begin around 5000 feet.

Ten to twenty inches of snow accumulation is expected above 5000 feet. Up to three feet of snow could fall above 7000 feet.

Winds of twenty to thirty-five mph are possible, with gusts up to sixty mph over the ridges.

As additional storm systems sweep through, the snow levels will rise to around 7000 feet on Wednesday and then lower into the Mother Lode foothills by next weekend.
