TUD At Work In Sonora

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District is working in several areas in Sonora today and tomorrow. They are flushing sections of the water system today until 3pm in the Mono Village area in East Sonora. Tomorrow they will flush the downtown on Stockton Street water distribution system between 8am to 3pm.

Also tomorrow, flaggers will be directing traffic from the hours of 8am to 2:30pm, on Lyons Street from Greenley Road to Hope Lane. The wastewater department will be doing necessary sewer line video inspections on Lyons Street. Drive with caution in the area, five minute delays can be expected.

TUD says customers should not be alarmed if they observe substantial volumes of water flowing in drainages or alongside the road or fluctuations your water pressure. T.U.D. recommends not doing laundry and to try to limit your water use in order not to draw this water into your household plumbing. If you have cloudy water after the water lines have been flushed, turn on an outside hose bibb in order to flush your service line prior to where the water enters the house.

In mid January Eric Hall, District Water Master reported that most water flushing had to be suspended. This annual flushing is usually done in the winter to clear out any sediment or minerals that may accumulate in the pipes during the summer.
