The unemployment rate edged upwards last month both statewide and in the Mother Lode.
The California Employment Development Department reports that the rate in March for Tuolumne County was 13.5%, compared to 13.3% in February. Calaveras County’s rate in increased to 14.8%, up from 14.5%.
Statewide, California’s unemployment rate increased to 11%.
Categories that saw an increase in new jobs include trade, transportation, health, leisure services, government, logging and mining. Areas that reported a decline include construction, manufacturing and information.
