Sonora, CA — A suspect led the CHP on a car chase through Sonora Sunday afternoon.
An officer attempted to pull over a man driving a 2000 Pontiac on Tuolumne Road, near Hess Avenue, because he was not wearing a seat belt. The suspect stepped on the gas and led officers on a chase towards Sonora, through the downtown, and eventually over to Parrotts Ferry Road. The suspect jumped out of the car near the Sawmill Flat Road intersection and ran away.
The suspect could not be located, but the CHP was able to confiscate the vehicle. It likely belongs to the suspect, as it was not reported stolen. The case is under investigation. The chase started at around 1:30pm.
