Sheriff’s Recycling Lifejackets Project Now Underway

San Andreas, CA — With boating season about to begin a local sheriff’s office is inviting folks to take advantage of a program intended to literally help preserve lives.

According to Calaveras County sheriff’s officials, five sheriff’s substations are now serving as drop off and pick up locations for unused lifejackets. Anyone with lifejackets their family has either outgrown or no longer needs is encouraged to recycle and bring them in so others in need can pick up one or more as available and put into good use.

Sheriff’s volunteers staffing the substations will take in the lifejackets and — as long as supplies last — hand them out along with related safety information. Below are the sheriff’s substation locations where lifejackets can be brought and also picked up:

–Valley Springs Substation (200 Highway 12); 209 772-1039
