Sonora, CA — A collision at the corner of Washington Street and Stockton has severely damaged a pillar. The corner of the Sonora Inn building has taken damage on many occasions. This time as reported by the police department, a van lost control and damaged the pillar but not at a fast speed.
No injuries were reported. The sidewalk has been closed pending further inspection of the structural damage. Traffic was still able to move by and was not significantly impeded by the event. As seen in the photos, rebar from beneath the pillar has been exposed.
There is no word yet on if the sidewalk can be repaired for the Round-Up parade this Saturday. The route for the 4th leg of the Amgen race on May 16th will pass by where the sidewalk is currently closed over Highway 108, to Lime Kiln Road before turning right onto Campo Seco.
