At-Large Board Member Vacancy

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority (TCEDA) is looking to fill an At-Large Board Member position.

The TCEDA announced today that applications are being accepted to fill the position vacated by Dennis Dahlin. Dahlin resigned from TCEDA to serve on the Tuolumne County Utilities District (TUD) Board of Directors. The appointment to the TCEDA Board will be for the remainder of Dahlin’s term which ends December 31st, 2012.

TCEDA is seeking someone from the private business sector to serve with seven other board members, three of which are at-large. The At-large board members are appointed by the other board members, two of which are Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors, and another two of which are City Council Members. At-Large Board Members are appointed for four-year terms, there will be two board positions open in December.

In the past the Board position was sought by several applicants, it is a completely voluntary position with no monetary compensation or benefits.

The Development Authority is looking for someone who has demonstrated track record in community activities, business or government experience, and vision. They also need to attend monthly meetings on the second Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m., at meeting locations throughout the County.

TCEDA’s Board of Directors also serve as the Board of Directors for the Economic Prosperity Council of Tuolumne County (EPCTC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is business education and economic development.

The Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority effectively implements, coordinates and administers general economic development programs within the County of Tuolumne, including for the City of Sonora. The current Executive Director is Larry Cope.

General economic development includes business retention and expansion, attracting businesses, and providing business assistance programs. TCEDA supports the creation, expansion and rehabilitation of public infrastructure needed to support and sustain local business and industry (e.g. roads, water, power, sewer, telecommunications, etc.) They also assist with educational and training opportunities tailored to equip and support the community’s workforce and pursue funding sources to facilitate all of the above.
