The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is taking over the operations of the county’s Economic Development Company.
Executive Director Diane Gray was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“We’re really thrilled because our missions are similar, and our work has always overlapped,” says Gray. “It seemed like a really good idea to combine the two organizations.”
The Economic Development Corporation will operate out of the Chamber’s office in San Andreas.
The agency originated in 1981, and then faded away in 2003. In 2009 local business leaders, led by Dave Haley of Castle and Cooke, re-energized the EDC and created the Calaveras Profile. The EDC also recently created a five year plan designed to lure high tech businesses to the county.
Yesterday, Chamber President Jeff Davidson presented information and an action plan to the Calaveras County Supervisors.
The next large activity for the Chamber will be the Jack Boeding Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday June 22nd. This is a “Scramble For Scholars” Benefit with a tee time of 1PM. To play, call (209) 736-2580 or log on to http://www.calaveras.org for more information.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
