This weekend’s Mother Lode Views will focus on a ballot measure that would expand the Transient Occupancy Tax.
Tuolumne County voters will decide next month whether to expand the TOT, a 10% tax that is currently paid by hotel visitors, to include RV parks, houseboats and campgrounds. The new funding would be set aside, at least over the first few years, to help keep Railtown 1897 and the Mother Lode Fairgrounds operational.
We’ll hear both the pros and cons of the idea. The panel of guests includes Visitors Bureau Executive Director Nanci Sikes, Friends of the Mother Lode Fair member Ty Wivell, and Gary Neubert, a local businessman who is the President of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
