Yosemite, CA – They held surprise bus inspections on June 14th and 15th at the park.
Ranger Kari Cobb says they stopped and checked 63 buses. Of those, she says, 32 were cited for 73 violations, most of them minor.
However, four buses were taken off the roadways due to safety problems. Those included bad brakes and one bus was at risk of having a fire due to hot engine problems. Also, three drivers were taken off their buses for expired licenses and log book violations.
Cobb says they tried to make the checks easy on riders. Most of the inspections were done while they were off the buses. For those that had violations new buses and drivers were called in, and on the spot repairs were done.
In all, 31 buses passed the inspection.
