Autopsy Released

Sonora, CA — The autopsy of 48 year old James Harold Jones of Jamestown, who died on May 3rd after being arrested, has been released by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department says, based upon the forensic autopsy examination and blood toxicology report the pathologist determined that, “Jones had approximately 16 times the level of a “potentially toxic” amount of methamphetamine in his system.”

The autopsy was performed by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

Jones was initially arrested for an unspecified outstanding warrant. During the intake process at the Tuolumne County Jail, it was reported that Jones was observed ingesting an unknown substance he had previously concealed.

The updated Sheriff’s report states when at Sonora Regional Medical Center, Jones admitted he had swallowed an “8 ball” (3.5g) of methamphetamine. Further statements say Jones died a short time later despite life saving measures by the hospital staff.
