Health Grants To Underserved Areas

San Andreas, CA – The Dignity Health Community Grants Program is designed to support nonprofits that collaborate to address community health needs, particularly those that focus on underserved populations. Nearly 50 projects totaling $250, 000 have received grants since the program began in 1990.

Vice President of Ancillary Services Larry Cornish says, “We are looking to partner with other nonprofit organizations whose programs respond to the strategic priorities identified in our hospital’s Community Health Assessments or Community Benefits Plans.”

MTSJH President Craig Marks says “We would be challenged to change the world by ourselves, however, partnering with others who share our mission and vision is a great way to bring about real improvement in the healthcare system. Our Community Grants program is one way we are working with others to increase access to quality care. Organizations that receive grant funds from us are working to improve access to jobs, housing, food, education, and health care for people in low-income and minority communities.”

Each grant program candidate must submit a letter of intent by the July 25th deadline in order to be considered.

Below are the criteria:

• Applicants must be a nonprofit organization or have a fiscal agent that is a organization and capable of administering the funds


• The project or program must be a response to the health priorities identified in the local Dignity Health hospital’s community health assessment or benefit plan
  


• The project to be funded must involve collaboration with other organizations and our hospital.

The Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Executive Leadership Team will carefully evaluate the programs to determine which best address the unmet health needs as revealed in Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Community Needs Assessment.
