Jamestown Man Killed In Crash

The CHP has released the name of the man that was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident last night in Tuolumne County.

50-year-old John C. Hyde of Jamestown was riding on Highway 49 near Sims Road. A stretch of Highway 49 was closed because Caltrans was doing road work in the area. The CHP reports that Hyde approached a traffic barricade and apparently attempted to go around it. The front tire and handlebar of the motorcycle hit the left side of the barricade, and his Honda 650 struck a wood utility pole. Hyde was ejected and later pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened at 7:05pm. Hyde was wearing a helmet, and the CHP notes that there were no signs of alcohol use.
