Railtown, CA — The California State Railroad Museum Foundation is putting up the remaining money needed to hopefully keep Railtown 1897 open through next June.
Foundation Executive Director Kathy Daigle reports that her group has offered an additional $30,000 donation, and she is now waiting to hear back from the state on whether Railtown will officially be taken off the closure list for the remaining fiscal year. The money is in addition to $50,000 previously donated by the CSRMF, $75,000 raised by local Rotary clubs, and a $75,000 matching grant from the Sonora Area Foundation.
The combined funding is expected to be enough to keep Railtown running while community leaders work to find a long-term funding solution.
