Future Unclear For Groveland FD

Groveland, CA – The Groveland Community Services District will hold a meeting Tuesday night where there will be a debate about the future of the fire department.

The Measure D fire tax was voted down last June, creating a significant long-term shortfall for the department. Members of the GCSD have recently been meeting with county staff members and CAL Fire about different scenarios. Ideas on the table include contracting with CAL Fire to carry out services, or have some type of a CAL Fire hybrid plan. The non-profit Friends of the Groveland Fire Department is also scheduled to give a presentation on a separate plan.

On a related note, last week it was announced that Shane Warner had resigned as Fire Chief of the department. Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6pm in the Groveland Community Services District Office on Ferretti Road. It is open to the public.
