Secure Rural Schools Funding Down 5%

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County is receiving its allocation of the federal Secure Rural Schools funding, but it’s a bit less than last year.

The estimated money coming in this fiscal year is $1.43 million. This week the Tuolumne County Supervisors approved a breakdown of where the funds will be allocated. 85% will go to fund roads and schools ($611K will go into a road fund and the same amount to county schools). $ 115K will go to the Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) and $100K to qualifying county projects (they could include fire prevention, creating wildfire prevention plans or search and rescue type operations on federal lands).

The plan was approved with a 5-0 vote of the Supervisors.
