Jamestown, CA — CHP officials were staged near downtown Jamestown looking for drunk drivers.
A sobriety/drivers license checkpoint was setup along Highway 108/49 on Friday night and early Saturday morning. 826 drivers were screened from 7pm-1:30am. There were no arrests made, but four people were cited for driving without a driver’s license. The checkpoints are held several times throughout the year, and are used as a deterrent to drunk drivers.
The CHP reports that, even though no arrests were made, it was considered a success because of the “Don’t Drink and Drive” educational message the motorists received while passing through the checkpoint.
