Health Officials say now is the time to get a flu shot.
Flu shot clinics will be held in the Mother Lode over the coming weeks and months.
“The time that people should get the flu vaccine is late September or early October,” says Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. “The flu season typically doesn’t come until a couple months after, but this is definitely the best time to protect yourself.”
Last year was a long, but mild, flu season. People most at risk are adults over 50, pregnant women, children, and those with respiratory illnesses.
The Calaveras County Public Health Office announces that its first flu shot clinic will be held later this week. Click here for more information. Tuolumne County is expected to announce plans for clinics over the coming weeks.
