Angels Camp, CA — The CHP says there were only minor injuries reported when a car rolled over on Highway 49 in Calaveras County.
61-year-old Helen Stephens of Arnold was driving near San Domingo Creek, and for an unknown reason, allowed her 2001 Dodge Durango to drift into the opposing traffic lane. She then collided, nearly head-on, with a rock embankment. The impact of the crash caused the Durango to flip over and hit a metal road marker.
The vehicle then proceeded to roll down a steep embankment, before coming to a complete stop. Stephens, and her only passenger 64-year-old Gary Stephens of Arnold, reported minor injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. The CHP says the accident happened at 1:08pm on Friday.
