Yosemite Ranger Recognized

Yosemite, CA — A Yosemite Ranger has won a prestigious award.

Shauna Potocky has received the Pacific West Region 2012 Freeman Tilden Award. It is given to a National Park Service employee for innovation when it comes to education programs. Potocky created the Gateway Expressions Student Art and Poetry Contest.

The event was a partnership between the National Park Service, Yosemite Conservancy, local school districts and the Ansel Adams Gallery.

Potcky will represent the Pacific West Region of the NPS in the National Freeman Tilden Award competition. The overall winner will be announced in mid-November at a conference in Virginia. The National Freeman Tilden Award is the highest award a field interpreter can receive from the NPS.
