This year, the Mother Lode Idol singing competition and Gold Rush Top Model contest have combined for three straight nights of fun entertainment.
Sandi Romena, Mother Lode Idol Director, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The Idol contest is open to anyone ages fifteen through twenty-eight years old.
The two combined contests will take place in the John Muir building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora, from Thursday November 8th through Saturday November 10th.
Tickets are available at the door. They are $7 for each night or there is a $15 pass for all three evenings with the money going to benefit the Friends of the Fair, a group dedicated to trying to keep the Mother Lode Fairgrounds operating.
Both a select group of celebrity judges and the audience, will vote and ultimately decide who the next Mother Lode Idol is. A similar type of judging will take place with the Top Model contest.
For the Top Model Contest, ladies will be competing for the opportunity to become a spokesperson for Gold Rush Top Model, as well as cash prizes, gift certificates from local shops, and either a spread in a local magazine or a shoot for a local business .
Each contestant attended classes that covered the basics of modeling and they have all participated in three photo shoots for local clients.
Doors open at 6pm all three nights, with the contest beginning at 7pm.
For more information call Romena at (209) 532-1607.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
