Sonora, CA — Many were out and about shopping over the weekend in the Mother Lode.
Black Friday saw lines of people outside local retail stores, and Saturday was dubbed, “Shop Local Saturday.” The Associated Press reports that experts estimate today will be the biggest online shopping day of the year for the third straight time as there are numerous Cyber Monday deals.
The research firm comScore estimates that Americans will spend $1.5 billion today, up 20 percent from last year.
It is also the first time that Californians will be forced to pay sales tax on Cyber Monday. This is due to the controversial bill that went into effect earlier this year, dubbed the “Amazon Tax.”
Many non-profits are also calling tomorrow, “Giving Tuesday.” They are hoping that many will give back to those in need this holiday season.
