Mountain Lion Sighting In Tuolumne

Summerville Elementary School is taking precautions after a mountain lion was spotted this morning near the corner of Maple Street and Main Street.

A report was called into the school by a parent, and the Sheriff’s Department was also then notified. Summerville Elementary Principal T.Y. Atkins says the school is taking precautionary measures today by moving P.E. classes to the gym, and only allowing students to recess on the blacktop areas. They have also locked all of the school gates except for the main entrance.

People with young children and animals in the area are advised to take note. To view a map of the area, click here.
