Calaveras County, CA — In response to the National Weather Service Flood Watch from Thursday through Sunday Calaveras is preparing thousands of sandbags for residents.
Calaveras County Road Superintendent Scott Anderson says, “We have approximately 7,000 sand bags in six different locations.” Anderson also says, “We’re planning for the worst, hopefully we will have some left over. You can never be prepared enough.”
Sand bags are available at the following locations:
San Andreas Road Yard, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas (1,000 bags)
Jenny Lind Road Yard, 11558 Milton Road, Valley Springs (500-600 bags)
Valley Springs Fitness Center Parking Lot, Hwy 26, Valley Springs (500-600 bags)
Near Dr. Duhamel Family Dentistry, 313 Vista Del Lago Drive, Valley Springs (500-600 bags)
Glencoe Road Yard, 16151 Hwy 26, Glencoe (500 bags)
Murphys Fire Dept., 37 Jones Street, Murphys (five pallets)
Arnold Road Yard, 1191 Line Baugh Road, Arnold (by the fence clearly marked for the public)
Anderson also says at the Copperopolis Fire station Calfire is filling 800-1,000 bags that will be available by the end of the day.
