A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for the Sierra Nevada above 7000 feet, through Friday 4pm.
An additional five to eleven inches of snow accumulation is expected above 7000 feet.
An inch of rain is expected in the Mother Lode.
Wind Advisories are also in effect for both the Sierra Nevada and the Mother Lode through Sunday 4pm.
Winds of twenty to thirty mph are expected with gusts ranging from thirty-five to seventy mph near the Sierra crest.
The next storm will arrive Saturday night or Sunday and bring more substantial rain, with the potential for heavy snow accumulations in the Sierra Nevada above 9000 feet.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for both the Mother Lode and the Sierra Nevada through Sunday evening.
Rises in smaller creeks, streams and rivers may occur. Road flooding, rock slides or mud and debris flows are all possible.
One and a half to three inches of rain is expected in the central valley during this time period.
