Bear Valley, CA – The end of the world prediction is not only causing Bear Valley Mountain Ski Resort to open a day earlier, but skiing will also be free thanks to the threat.
The resort originally announced plans to open December 21st, but has pushed the date to December 20th just in case the Mayan Calendar’s end of the world prediction comes true. However, Senior Marketing Director for Bear Valley Resorts Rosie Sundell says a customer actually helped them come up with the plan.
Sundell says, “We got an email from somebody who said you can’t wait until the 21st we might not get to ski. Don’t you know it’s the end of the world? That prompted something that we thought would be fun and said let’s do it.”
Free lift tickets will be handed out at the resort entrance starting at 9 a.m. on December 20th.
The resort plans to operate the Kuma, Koala and Cub chair lifts for the day.
Also, Dodge Ridge says the recent snow fall is building a nice base and they plan to announce an opening date sometime next week.
