The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Friday morning through late Saturday night above 4000 feet.
Snow levels will begin above 500 feet on Thursday before gradually rising to 3000 through 4500 feet by Saturday.
One to six feet of snow accumulation is expected above 4000 through 5000 feet.
Winds of fifteen to thirty-five mph are likely with gusts up to sixty-five mph over the crest of the Sierra.
Drier weather is expected on Christmas eve and Christmas Day.
